Summary of position:
The Regional Service Centre are looking for a candidate to join their Regional HR team and assist us with the delivery of HR programs and services to our 76 Canadian government offices (Embassies, High Commissions and Consulates) located in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The duties will include supporting a Regional HR Manager and 3 Regional HR Officers with a number of HR processes in the following areas: Maintaining and updating HR data in our HR Management system, recruitment administration using a candidate tracking system, providing day to day HR support and ad-hoc HR tasks which include providing administrative support and advice and assistance to clients throughout the region.

Area of selection
This position is open to candidates who are currently resident in the UK, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in the UK, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below, and whose applications are received by the closing date. Those candidates holding documentation/visas not renewable in the UK such as the Youth Mobility Visa will only be eligible to apply for this position if the expiry date of the visa exceeds the term duration (i.e. past March 2017).

Note: The High Commission of Canada does not reimburse any travel costs to and from interview nor does it reimburse any relocation costs. The High Commission of Canada does not sponsor work permit applications on behalf of candidates.

Essential qualifications:
Education: A-Levels or equivalent

Linguistic Profile: Fluency in English & French

Experience: The candidate must have all of the following:
• a minimum of 2 years recent* experience working in an office environment in an administrative support or program assistant capacity
• Experience of using IT systems for data entry, data maintenance, and creating reports
• Experience in providing services to clients and problem-solving

*Recent is defined as within the last 4 years.

Rated Requirements
Candidates must also meet the Rated Requirements shown below, which will be assessed through any of the following: written test, oral communication, interview and reference checks:

• Standard office procedures and practices
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Effective interactive communication – Oral and Written
• Attention to detail
• Ability to plan and organize workload, as well as to establish and manage priorities in a high-paced work environment
• Flexibility and Adaptability
• Professional Integrity

Asset Qualifications:
The High Commission has the right to further screen on Asset Qualifications and as such, preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates should also clearly demonstrate in their cover letter if they meet these qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or college with a major in Human Resources or other related field*
• CIPD certificate.
• Work experience in a Human Resources environment involving data entry.
• Experience working for a High Commission or Embassy.
• Experience of working with an applicant tracking system.

*other related field is defined as a Bachelor’s degree with modules taken in Human Resources.

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Occasional overtime may be required.
• Occasional international travel may be required.
• Ability to travel throughout the EMEA region and to Canada, as required

Condition(s) of Employment:
Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at time to be arranged by the supervisor. Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory employment and character references and the ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening (including a criminal record check). Copies of educational qualifications will be required at the interview stage of the process. Successful candidate must have a valid passport and the required documentation allowing the right to work in the UK, documentation will be required.
