Summary of position:
Reporting to the International Business Development (IBD) manager, contributes to the delivery of the IBD program at the mission, with responsibility for one priority sector and more than one reactive sector.
Relevant sectors are:
• Infrastructure sector, including construction and building products and services, sewage, water, transport and communication systems.
• Sustainable technologies

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• Graduate or Post graduate degree from a recognized university with an acceptable specialization including but not limited to Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, International Business, Geology, Environmental Science or Public Relations

Language:
• Fluency in English (spoken, written)

Experience:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in senior positions in International Business Development, Marketing, Strategic Planning , Finance or other relevant business experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in planning and managing initiatives with a client focus including but not limited to organising business networking events, leading marketing campaigns, executing business plans, market research initiatives, etc

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the UAE market including local business practices and specific sectoral expertise
• Intl Business Development practices including excellence in client service delivery
• Local government policies and programs with regards to business practices
• General administrative principles including but not limited to superior IT skills, maintaining an effective filing system, office organisation, accepted meeting, email and phone etiquette, etc.

Ability/Competencies:
• Write complete project communications, initiate and lead new proposals, budget management, and prepare reports;
• Organise, plan and execute events, handle logistical arrangements, arrange hospitality and obtain sourcing quotes;
• Demonstrate excellent client service, business networking, relationship building, trouble shooting, analytical thinking, decision making and market intelligence gathering abilities;
• Strong communication skills including use of media and social media;
• Set business priorities and develop, design and deliver work plans.
• Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures, to establish a client and contacts network and to work as part of a team;
• Ability to work with high profile clients and contacts;
• Resourcefulness, excellent judgement, analytical and organizational skills;
• Team player with a positive attitude, able to work within a hierarchy;
• Discreet, courteous, client focus, flexible, self-motivated and independent;
• Show initiative and leadership.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

• Ability to speak read and write Arabic
• Ability to speak read and write French.
• Knowledge of the following sectors: Infrastructure sector, including construction and building products and services, sewage, water, transport, communication systems and sustainable technologies
• Knowledge of Canadian capabilities and global industry trends and developments in the sectors relevant to the position.

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter.

Operational Requirements:
• Willing to travel as and when the job demands inside/outside UAE, including for events and training courses;
• Willing to do overtime on weekdays and/or during weekends if job demands.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Obtain necessary Government of Canada Reliability Status clearance.
• Successful completion of a one year probation period.
• Possess a valid UAE ID card.
• Possess a valid work permit or No impediments to obtaining a UAE employment visa.
