Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Locally-engaged Consular Officer in Madrid, provides information, advice and
services to the local Canadian community, including the processing of passport and rendering notarial services; supports consular program delivery at the Mission; ensures information, advice and assistance are provided
in a manner compliant with the policies and procedures of the Government of Canada and Global Affairs Canada.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their covering letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) how they meet each of these essential qualifications. A copy of a university/college degree (if applicable) and the proof of the right to work and reside in Spain should be included in the application together with the CV and covering letter.
Education/Professional Certifications:
• Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or a combination of studies, training and pertinent work experience.
• Valid passport certification following examination on Canadian passport training for Foreign Operations.
Language:
• Fluency in English, French and Spanish, both written and spoken.
Experience:
• Minimum two years’ recent* experience working in an administrative, in a customer service or in a data entry role;
• Experience working for a diplomatic mission or a governmental or international organization.
*Recent experience is defined as in the last five years.
Knowledge:

• Knowledge of the consular mandate of Global Affairs Canada;
• Knowledge of habitual office software - e.g. Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)

• Valid certification following examination on Canadian passport training for Foreign Operations;
• Ability to apply and interpret directives, policies and procedures in a regulatory environment;

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:
• Recent* work experience applying and interpreting directives, policies and procedures in a regulatory environment.
• Recent* work experience in Canada or in an organization linked to Canada.
*Recent experience is defined as within the last five years.
If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications, they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in their covering letter/CV.

• Requirement to work directly with the public;
• Availability and willingness to work overtime.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Must possess the right to live and work in Spain - a valid work permit or residency for Spain;
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Enhanced Reliability Clearance. Please note that the Reliability Status Clearance must be maintained throughout your employment at the Embassy as failure to do so may result in termination of employment. This includes a criminal and credit background check.
