Summary of position:
Under the general supervision of the Team Lead or an officer, and working as part of a team, the Medical Program Clerk provides a variety of support services to office operations. Communicates and assists clients or panel physicians to understand the immigration or medical application process/requirements and enables their compliance. Provides daily administrative support. Accesses departmental information systems to record and review information for the processing of applications or medical examinations. Utilizes automated tools such as photocopiers, scanners, and telephones. Responds to service requests from clientele and performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or college

• Fluency in English (read, write, speak)

• At least 6 recent consecutive months experience in an office environment in a clerical or administrative support capacity. *recent is defined as in the last 2 years

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Fluency in French, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, and/or Filipino local languages (reading, writing, speaking)
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel acquired through a certificate or a diploma
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Basic knowledge of Canadian immigration policies and Procedures as they relate to the IME
• At least 2 years’ experience in the last 5 years in an office environment
• Working in a diplomatic mission or international Organization
• At least 3 months experience using GCMS

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
• Be able and committed to working additional hours as required, and on short notice, during evenings and weekends.

Condition(s) of Employment:
The successful candidate must:
• Obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance from the Government of Canada. This involves, among other things, criminal record checks, credit checks and validation of qualifications.
• If non-citizen of the Philippines, have the possession of or ability to procure a valid working permit in the Philippines for an indeterminate period.
• Meet the employer’s medical requirements by undergoing a medical evaluation by a physician.

Open to Philippine nationals and expatriates with or eligible for a work permit, who meet the Essential Qualifications and are currently residing in the Philippines.
