Summary of position:
Working in the international business development team of the Embassy of Canada in the Republic of Korea under the general direction of the Senior Trade Commissioner, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the Trade Commissioner Service (TCS) Mentoring Program at the Embassy and within other embassies in the region. This will include identifying and recruiting both mentors and mentees for the program, helping shape the program in collaboration with relevant stakeholders at HQ and in the TCS network, and support major events to promote the program in various locations worldwide.

The incumbent will have to work closely with all officers of the Trade Section in the Embassy, representatives of Canadian provincial offices in Seoul, colleagues in Global Affairs Canada headquarters and in regional offices, and other key stakeholders in Canada and abroad.

As this is a new position covering a developing program, the incumbent will have to demonstrate flexibility as the final details of the roles and responsibilities are not yet defined.


Essential qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree from a recognized university in a field related to the position, including but not limited to commerce OR an acceptable combination of education, training and work experience.

Language:
• Full Professional Proficiency in English and Korean, both written and spoken (is understood as the ability to speak and write the language with clients and stakeholders with a rich and appropriate vocabulary, a clear and fluent rhythm with little or no hesitations, little or no mistakes with regards to spelling, vocabulary, grammar or syntax, and with minimal accent)

Experience:
• A minimum of 8 years of employment experience of which at least 5 must be recent and direct experience in international business development;
• Experience in managing client and stakeholder relationships and in providing client service support to customers/clients;
• Experience in project management;
• Experience in providing strategic advice, briefings, and written reports to management and/or clients on international business issues;
• Experience in conflict resolution.

Rated Requirements:
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to: a video interview, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the TCS and its mentorship Program.

Abilities / skills:
• Communicate effectively in English and Korean, both orally and in writing
• Build and sustain a network of contacts

Operational Requirements:
• Hours of work: Mondays-Friday: 08:30 to 17:00;
• Must be able to work overtime on short notice on occasion;
• Must be available for occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e., evenings and weekends); and
• Must be willing to travel in Korea and/or outside Korea.
