Summary of position:
You’re our internal full-stack developer for internal business solutions. You work closely with other team members to understand their work and find ways to make everyone more efficient. You will solve business problems through a combination of redesigning processes and developing new tools and applications in a corporate setting using technologies like Microsoft .Net and PowerApps.

You’ll maintain and continually improve the products you create, and support end users in using those products.

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• Degree from a college or university with a specialization in computer science, business and information management or related discipline, OR an acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience

Language:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

Experience:
• Experience in gathering and developing business requirements to identify tasks and deliverables
• Experience with test driven development and maintaining unit/integration tests
• Experience in creating process flow, data flow and entity relationship diagrams using tool such as VBA, etc.
• Experience in providing client service

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of theories and practices of project and database management
• Knowledge of software design patterns
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies

Abilities/skills:
• Ability to incorporate existing development standards and processes into new projects.
• Ability to understand, analyze and diagnose inefficiencies with current business operation/processes and design improvements.
• Ability to gather and identify business requirements from stakeholders and users and present in user story or use case formats.
• Identify groups of user stories or use cases to generate development sprints.
• Ability to provide user support, coaching, and training by correspondence, over the telephone and in person

Asset Qualifications:
Language:
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

Experience:
• Experience with Microsoft development tools; Visual Studio, MS Code etc.

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of Microsoft development stack, .Net, MS SQL, AD, PowerApps etc.
• Knowledge of OWASP and security best practices

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice as required
• Able to travel domestically and internationally as required

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid “Reliability Status” security clearance

Area of selection:
This position is open to external candidates residing in China and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Beijing at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Beijing at own expense.
