Summary of position:
You’re a great communicator, trainer, and all-around helpful person. You like helping others be better at their jobs. You like technology, but don’t necessarily have to be a computer expert. As part of the Embassy’s IT Support Team, you will:
• Design training programs that teach users how to use our tools and how we work
• Deliver training in a classroom and virtually in English, and possibly Mandarin or French
• Write how-to guides and documentation on how to use our systems and equipment
• Provide a first level of technical support and coaching to users

Essential qualifications:
Education:
• Graduation from a college or university OR an acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience

Language:
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

Experience:
• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in an office environment
• A minimum of 2 years of experience developing training materials and delivering training programs
• Experience in conducting training or coaching on topics related to information management and information technology systems (can be in a non-work related setting)

Knowledge:
• Knowledge of training / lesson planning
• Knowledge of training methods and techniques

Abilities/skills:
• Ability to identify training requirements
• Ability to build effective course material and lesson plans for required training
• Ability to simplify complex concepts or procedures and communicate them effectively
• Ability to use and explain advanced features of office suite software

Asset Qualifications:
Education:
• Graduation from a college or university with a specialization in computer science or related discipline OR an acceptable equivalent through the combination of education and work experience;
or,
• Graduation from a college or university with a specialization in education or adult learning or a related discipline.

Language:
• Proficiency in French (reading, writing, listening, speaking)
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (reading, writing, listening, speaking)

Experience:
• Experience in writing technical documentation
• Experience in Information Management
• Experience working in an international environment such as an Embassy, International Organization or Multi-National Company;
• Experience in Scripting and Programming

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Ability to work overtime on short notice as required
• Able to travel domestically and internationally as required
• Annual leave may be restricted due to operational needs.
• Requirement to undergo training.
• As a member of the Canadian diplomatic presence abroad, requirement to adhere to Canada's Code on Values & Ethics.
• Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days a week.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid working authorization in China. Per Chinese regulations, the Embassy / Consulates can only facilitate working visas for Canadian citizens.
• The hiring or appointment of the successful candidate will be subject to obtaining Reliability Status (RS) through the Management and Security section of the Embassy. Please note that RS must be maintained throughout your employment at the Embassy, as failure to do so may result in dismissal

Area of selection:
This position is open to external candidates residing in China at the time of employment and employees occupying an indeterminate or term position in China Missions who meet all of the essential qualifications and whose applications are received by the closing date. Short-listed candidates should be able to participate in tests and/or interviews in Beijing at own expense. The successful candidate will be required to relocate to Beijing at own expense.
