This process will be used to create a list of eligible candidates for similar positions either indeterminate, term or emergency. This position is a Locally Engaged Staff (LES) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in London.

Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Protocol and Client Service Officer and direction of the Director of Operations, the incumbent acts as a receptionist in welcoming visitors to Canada House in a friendly and professional manner. He or she operates the central telephone switchboard serving all programs of the building; provides general information to visitors on the Consular, Cultural and Immigration Programs; controls physical access to the Chancery in addition to other duties. The incumbent provides clerical support to the Common Services team completing tasks such as invoice management, documentation creation and review, data entry, form completion, etc. The incumbent performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Only candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.

Education:
• GCSEs or equivalent

Language:
• Fluent* in English (oral, written, comprehension)
* Fluency will be assessed by a variety of means including written assessment and interview.

Experience:
• A minimum 6 months experience working in an office environment in client-facing, customer service role or in an Embassy/High Commission.

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

• Proficiency with computers, office software and other hardware
• Ability to adapt to/learn quickly new work and processes

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• A-Levels or equivalent
• Experience in reviewing, analyzing and extracting information from databases
• Experience in writing various correspondence
• Experience working as a receptionist
• Demonstrated ability to cope in a fast-paced and stressful environment
• Fluency in French
• Experience working for the government of Canada
• Experience working in a diplomatic mission

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Occasional overtime may be required
• Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at time to be arranged by the supervisor.

Condition(s) of Employment:
