Summary of position:
Under the general direction of the Regional Medical Officer: the LES-MD will provide immigration medical assessment services which include immigration medical adjudication and assessment of immigration medical applications made by foreign nationals, manage panel physicians and liaise with the panel physician and regional public health network, and perform other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education:
• Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine with Canadian equivalence (comparable)

Language:
• Fluency in English (read, write, speak)

Experience:
• Minimum 3 years' experience in clinical health care or in hospital setting
• Interpreting basic chest x-rays
• Providing support or administrative services such as: Medical data entry/extraction and providing written/oral reports


RATED REQUIREMENTS
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:
• Tuberculosis Management
• Management of common chronic diseases
• General knowledge and use of various software applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web-based applications

Abilities/ Competencies:
• Analyze medical examination results/information to assess health risks for the purposes of immigration
• Ability to review health assessment for clients and provide an opinion on the findings
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing

Competencies:
• Collaboration and Cooperation
• Demonstrating Integrity and respect
• Showing initiative and thinking things through

Asset Qualifications:
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates

• Master in Public Health, Epidemiology and Statistics, Infectious Diseases, or Health Service Administration
• At least 3 years’ experience in clinical health care related to the medical management of tuberculosis and/or chronic diseases
• Experience with quality assurance in health care settings.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Be able and committed to working additional hours as required, and on short notice, during evenings and weekends.


Condition(s) of Employment:
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The successful candidate must:
• Have a valid “Reliability Status”, security check is required prior to appointment as well as a local police clearance certification and medical examination. The required level of security clearance must be maintained throughout the employment period.
• Have the ability to maintain a valid working authorization in the Philippines.
• Valid License to Practice Medicine without restriction in the Philippines

Area of selection:
This position is open to Philippine nationals and expatriates with or eligible for a work permit, who meet the Essential Qualifications and are currently residing in the Philippines.
