Summary of position:
The Common Services/Administrative Assistant (LE-A2) provides administrative support and services to Management & Ambassador, Reception duties, Acts as Consular support and back-up; provides and creates information and/or documentation; provides support for ongoing program activities; responds to service requests from clientele and performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Only those candidates who have all the essential qualifications and demonstrate this clearly within their application will then proceed to the next stage of the process.

• Completion of Secondary school (Lyceum)

• Fluency in English
• Fluency in Icelandic

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in government or a private sector company relevant to the position; periods of completed internships will count.
• Experience working in an office with a strong focus on client service orientation and following standard office procedures.

Rated Requirements:
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.
• Fluency in French
• Previous experience with the Canadian Government or in a public sector environment
• Knowledge of Canada and Iceland

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Willingness and ability to occasionally work outside regular working hours and/or weekends, when required.
• Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week.
• Valid drivers licence for Iceland/Passenger vehicles

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Able to obtain and retain a Government of Canada Reliability Status Clearance (ERC). Please note that ERC must be maintained throughout your employment at the Embassy, as failure to do so may result in dismissal.
• Must have a valid authorization to work and reside in Iceland.
• Before an offer of employment can be made, candidates must provide a local address as proof of residence in the specific city, region or country so that if selected, it will appear on the offer letter.
