2 year term. This position is a LES (Locally Engaged Staff) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in Kazakhstan. This process will be used to create a list of eligible candidates for similar positions either term or indeterminate.

Summary of position:
General services positions are non-office positions involved in various services and mission operations, such as security, driving, and housekeeping services, mailroom operations, hospitality, and property maintenance in Canada’s network of missions, which include official residences, Chanceries, staff quarters, Embassies/High commissions, Consulates and any other facilities abroad under Canada’s responsibility.

The position is an operational level general services position.

Plans, oversees, and provides regular and official housekeeping and hospitality services.
This includes welcoming guests, setting the premises according to standards and serving food and beverages at the chancery and in the Official Residence.
Provides advice and guidance to cleaners on how to perform various cleaning tasks and on safety measures related to proper material handling and tool and equipment use. Recommends the purchase and use of cleaning supplies and equipment.
Oversees and provides housekeeping and hospitality services. This includes ensuring cleanliness of the premises, welcoming guests, preparing set-ups for official events, receptions, and meetings, and serving food and beverages. Ensures that basic maintenance services are provided.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Only candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.

Education:

High School Diploma from a recognized school

Language:

• Proficiency in Russian (oral and written)
• Advanced beginner* level in English (oral and written)
*Minimum A2 level in the CEFR guidelines

Experience:

• 24 months of experience in housekeeping and hospitality services

Rated Requirements

The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

• Knowledge of cleaning and household organization
• Knowledge of duties related to hospitality and events organization
• Basic knowledge of inventory management

Operational Requirements:
• Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, 5 days a week
• Ability to work overtime, including on weekends (compensated)
• Ability to attend offsite events.
• Willingness and ability to undergo training
• Adhere to Canada's Code on Values & Ethics.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Right to work and live legally in Kazakhstan
• Successful completion of up to 1 year probation period
• Able to obtain and retain an enhanced reliability clearance
• All new hires on or after the effective date of October 6, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment and to attest that they are fully vaccinated prior to their starting date unless accommodation measures are granted.
