Summary of position:
Reporting to the First Secretary and Trade Commissioner, Canadian Technology Accelerator, the incumbent provides coordination and administrative support for the CED’s Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) program. Specifically, the incumbent:
• coordinates clerical and administrative duties such as scheduling meetings and appointments, and assisting with the setup of webinars, in-person workshops, and hospitality events;
• supports the CTA assessment process by compiling and distributing documents for evaluation, informing companies of application decisions, and recording relevant information in TRIO;
• supports the CTA contracting process by assisting with the preparation of statements of work and requests for proposals, compiling and distributing documents for evaluation, liaising with service providers to distribute or solicit information, and reviewing contract deliverables from partners and facilitating payments;
• communicates directly with Canadian companies to collect and compile relevant information prior to, during, and after their participation in the program, and provides information on program format and scheduling;
• assists with the drafting and distribution of social media and web content to promote the CTA and profile participating companies; and
• ensures that information and data related to the CTA (including TRIO reporting) are up to date, relevant and accessible, both to support operational objectives and reporting requirements.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Education:
• A-Levels or equivalent

Language:
• Fluent* in English (oral, written, comprehension).
* Fluency will be assessed by a variety of means including written assessment and interview.

Experience:
• Experience providing administrative or financial support in a professional office environment.
• Experience using software and systems required to produce various reports and spreadsheets, presentations, and correspondence, and to update databases (MS Office, Outlook, etc.).
• Experience using online platforms to organize virtual meetings (Zoom, MS Teams, etc.).
• Experience providing service to clients and external stakeholders.

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written or online examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations, psychometric assessment and/or reference checks.

Knowledge
• Knowledge of international trade and of the commercial interests and priorities of Canada in the United Kingdom.
• Knowledge of the mandate and role of the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service, especially as it applies to programming support to innovative Canadian small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
• Knowledge of general office procedures and practices, information management techniques and financial monitoring.

Asset Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications in their cover letter and CV.

• Experience with contracting (e.g. statements of work, requests for proposals)
• Experience planning and managing events, conferences and/or tradeshows
• Fluency in French

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Willing and able to work extended hours as required including late evenings, weekends and sometime with little advance notice.
• Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at time to be arranged by the supervisor.

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory employment and character references and the ability to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability security screening (including a criminal record check) which you currently possess.
• Copies of educational qualifications will be required at the interview stage of the process.
• Successful candidate must have the required documentation allowing the right to work in the UK. Documentation will be required.
• All new hires on or after the effective date of October 6, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated as a condition of employment and to attest that they are fully vaccinated prior to their starting date unless accommodation measures are granted.

Open to all indeterminate and term locally engaged employees at the High Commission, and Canada Based Spouses, who are currently resident in the UK, who hold current documentation allowing them to work in the UK without restriction, who currently possess enhanced reliability status security clearance, who meet all of the essential requirements stated and whose applications are received by the closing date. Those candidates holding documentation/visas not renewable in the UK such as the Youth Mobility Visa will only be eligible to apply for this position if the expiry date of the visa exceeds the term duration.
