Summary of position:
The Housekeeping Attendant plans, oversees and provide regular and official housekeeping and hospitality services including welcoming guests, setting the premises according to standards and serving food and beverages in the Official Residence. The work conditions require bending, walking, standing and lifting in uncomfortable positions or for extended periods of time as well as performing repetitive movements. The work also requires attention to detail when ensuring that all areas, including the public and office spaces, are properly cleaned and attended to. There can be exposure to stress from ensuring that housekeeping duties are done in time for scheduled activities and events.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

High School Diploma

Working knowledge of English (written and oral)

Minimum 2 years of work experience in housekeeping and hospitality services including setting premises for events according to particular standards, welcoming guests and serving food and beverages in a setting such as a diplomatic mission, an official residence or a boutique hotel.

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral in-person, remote or recorded interview, a role-play, practical tests, a presentation and/or psychometric assessment.

Extensive knowledge of cleaning and household organization
Basic knowledge of duties related to hospitality and events organization

Must be able to perform paid overtime with short notice
Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with the Locally Engaged Staff (LES) regulations of 40 hours per week. Your actual hours of work and lunch periods are dependent on the type of position you hold and field of activity in which you are involved. You and your supervisor will determine your precise working hours in advance (most likely 7:30 to 4:30 with an unpaid 60 minutes lunch break)

Condition(s) of Employment:
The conditions of employment are mandatory requirements for hiring and continued employment with the High Commission of Canada to Jamaica. These conditions may be reviewed on a periodic basis.

Legal status to work in Jamaica.
Obtain and maintain a reliability rating (security clearance) from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
The successful candidate must be able to accept employment within four weeks or less of the offer being made.
