Summary of position:
The Chancery/Official Residence Coordinator ensures the general maintenance and upkeep of Canada's hospitality platform at the Mission. The duties include preparing and serving meals for the Head of Mission's family and for small receptions, ensuring the cleaning and maintenance of the Mission and/or Official Residence, and coordinating the hospitality program in coordination with the Head of Mission, the Executive Assistant, Mission staff, and suppliers and vendors. The Coordinator also oversees the work of contractors for repair/construction projects at the Official Residence and/or the Chancery, and for making necessary arrangements with suppliers when the Mission hosts events. There can be exposure to stress from ensuring that duties are done in time for scheduled activities and events.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and CV how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

Education
High School Diploma and Formal Culinary or Hospitality training

Language
Working knowledge of English (written and oral)

Experience
Minimum 5 years of work experience in housekeeping or hospitality services including coordinating a hospitality program, overseeing the work of contractors and in preparing and serving meals in small settings such as a diplomatic mission, an official residence or a boutique hotel

Rated Requirements
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral in-person, remote or recorded interview, a role-play, practical tests, a presentation and/or psychometric assessment.

Operational Requirements:
Must be able to perform paid overtime with short notice
Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with the Locally Engaged Staff (LES) regulations of 40 hours per week. Your actual hours of work and lunch periods are dependent on the type of position you hold and field of activity in which you are involved. You and your supervisor will determine your precise working hours in advance (most likely 7:30 to 4:30 with an unpaid 60 minutes lunch break)

Condition(s) of Employment:
The conditions of employment are mandatory requirements for hiring and continued employment with the High Commission of Canada to Jamaica. These conditions may be reviewed on a periodic basis.

Legal status to work in Jamaica.
Obtain and maintain a reliability rating (security clearance) from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
The successful candidate must be able to accept employment within four weeks or less of the offer being made.
