This process will be used to create a list of eligible candidates for similar positions either indeterminate, term or emergency. This position is a Locally Engaged Staff (LES) position, subject to the Terms and Conditions of Employment for LES in London.

Summary of position:
Under the supervision of the Events Officer, the Events Operations Assistant will undertake setup duties before and after official events and meetings, ensuring all function rooms are properly prepared. This includes setup duties (such as lifting and movement of tables and chairs). Preparing the set up and removal of tea, coffee and water for small meetings as required. Maintaining the inventory of linens of the Mission, steaming and pressing linens in preparation for an event, and removing and sending linens to be dry cleaned. Assist the team with all inventory of hospitality items.
The incumbent performs other duties as required.

Essential qualifications:
Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, experience and language. Candidates must clearly demonstrate in their cover letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) how they meet each of these essential qualifications. Only candidates who meet all the Essential Requirements will proceed to the next stage of the process.

Linguistic Profile:
• Working level of written and spoken English

Experience:
• 3 months of experience in a client-facing, customer service or events role

Rated Requirements:
The Rated Requirements relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies will also be assessed. Methods of assessment may include, but are not limited to, a written or online examination, an oral interview, role-play, practical tests, presentations, psychometric assessment and/or reference checks.

Asset Qualifications:
The High Commission has the right to further screen on Asset Qualifications and as such, preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications. Candidates should also clearly demonstrate in their cover letter if they meet these factors.
• Event set up experience
• Experience pressing and steaming linen
• Experience working in a diplomatic mission
• Knowledge in supporting audio/visual equipment, such as microphones and presentations.
• Education: GCSE’s

Organizational Needs:

Operational Requirements:
• Must be able to work overtime on short notice on occasion;
• Must be available for occasional duties outside normal working hours (i.e., evenings and weekends);
• Ability to work flexible hours on occasions

Condition(s) of Employment:
• Hours of work will be 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday at times to be arranged by the supervisor.
• Any job offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory employment and character references and the ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security screening (including a criminal record check and financial check).
• Copies of educational qualifications will be required at the interview stage of the process.
• Successful candidate must have the required documentation allowing the right to work in the UK. Documentation will be required.
• A medical assessment will be required to ensure fitness prior to any offer of employment made including standing for extended periods of time, bending, kneeling and capable of lifting 50lbs (22kg) standard tables, chairs, and furniture.
• All new hires on or after the effective date of October 6, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment and to attest that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their starting date unless accommodation measures are granted.
